Water taking longer to heat?

During winter you might notice hot water takes longer to reach your taps.

The most common reason for this is because the temperature of your pipes is lower. The hot water from your hot water system is cooled as it flows through the cold pipes. This means the hot water needs to heat the pipes before water comes through to your taps at a hot temperature.

Even if your hot water system is working properly, it could still struggle to deliver a steady supply of hot water when it’s cold outside.

A good test is to let the water flow for longer. If the water is still lukewarm, you may need to call a tradesman.
